CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM
Since I already have a moisturizer for the morning that has SPF ([amazon_link id=”B00367LZ9Y” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Yes to Carrots Daily Moisturizing Lotion[/amazon_link]!), I wanted to try out a moisturizer that was formulated for the night-time that had really beneficial ingredients for my skin and was also not super pricey. After poking around on Beautypedia, I found this moisturizer that had a really great review (along with the whole CeraVe line). I’ll post that below:
“CeraVe’s first official facial moisturizer isn’t too far removed from their well-formulated body moisturizers. That’s great because their formulas contain outstanding blends of emollients and skin-identical ingredients. This facial moisturizer is a very good option for normal to dry skin. In addition to numerous skin-identical ingredients, it contains a generous amount of the cell-communicating ingredient niacinamide, which offers multiple benefits. Its lightweight cream texture provides substantial moisture. This fragrance-free moisturizer is highly recommended for sensitive or rosacea-affected skin, hence the high rating. The only formulary drawback is the lack of antioxidants, but you can remedy that by applying an antioxidant-rich serum under or over Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM.” – Beautypedia.com
The texture of this cream (as the review above states) is definitely very lightweight. I was really surprised, actually, because I was expecting a “night cream” to be very heavy. I usually use three pumps of this (another plus…it comes in a pump not a jar!) which is enough to cover my face and neck and provide a pretty good amount of moisture. This cream really sinks into the skin quickly (definitely not greasy at all) and leaves your face feeling really soft and clean. Its odd to describe moisturizer as making your face feel “clean”, but that’s really what this makes my face feel like! If you’re used to really heavy moisturizers, then you might feel like this is too light for you…that’s definitely how I felt at first! But it does really absorb into your skin and hydrate it. You just can’t feel that layer of grease on the top of your skin.
As for ingredients, it contains some really beneficial things for your skin. It contains niacinamide, which can “improve skin’s elasticity…help erase discolorations, and revive skin’s healthy tone and texture” among a number of other things (source). It also contains hyaluronic acid which can “boost skin’s moisture content and help prevent moisture loss” (source). I don’t know about you, but those benefits sure sound great to me! One thing I will say (and I’ve mentioned this before) is that this didn’t completely eliminate my dry flakes under my mouth and around my nose, although I have seen a definite improvement. I have a skin condition, so the only thing that really helps with that is something medicated. I’m also going to pick up another exfoliant to help with that as well.
All in all, I’m really glad I picked up this moisturizer! Its gotten some rave reviews by both professionals and consumers, and for obvious reasons! It doesn’t have super cute packaging or crazy marketing or anything else that’s gimmicky…just great ingredients that will definitely hydrate and help your skin!

Yup LOVE this stuff! My derm told me only to use one pump each time though…which seems to be adequately enough although I don’t put it on my neck. I probably should, I always forget that part of my body needs attention too!

Nah you’re probably right about using only one pump! I tend to go overboard with moisturizer haha
