So excited to finally get my first bag from MyGlam! I unsubscribed from Birchbox last month in favor of MyGlam…I just wanted to try it out and compare the two programs. I dropped Birchbox (for now at least) because I wasn’t very impressed with the samples (I was only using maybe 1 or 2 samples from each box) and MyGlam seemed like a good option that was more makeup-based, and it costs the same amount ($10/month). I’m going to list the products I received, then talk a little about the pros and cons that I’ve found with the program so far. The theme for this month’s bag was natural products, and the products each month come in a cute little cosmetic bag.
- Freeman Cucumber Facial Peel-Off Masque: This is a full size product! Unfortunately, this is very similar (as I knew it would be) to the peel-off mask I had gotten in my Vox Box (the Montagne Jeusse) in that it has a high alcohol content, which isn’t good for your skin. However, I’ll still give this a try regardless and I think its awesome that this huge product was included!
- Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner: I’ve heard so much about Wen, and I cannot wait to try this product! Since I started using sulfate-free shampoo/conditioner on my hair, this product is perfect for me. The sample is a great size, too.
- Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in Light/Medium: I kind of wish I had gotten this in December, since I just bought a concealer haha. I will definitely give this a try, though. I’ve never heard of the Sheer Cover brand, but apparently its sold on HSN. Its a really large sample size and I actually thought this was a full size product, but it is half the full size product.
- theBalm Cosmetics Shady Lady shadow in “luscious lani“: Another full size product! You either got this or a nail polish also by theBalm. To be honest, I was disappointed at first that I didn’t get the nail polish, but I got really happy when I saw the color of this shadow. Its a gorgeous champagne pink that is very similar to Urban Decay’s “Sin” which I absolutely love and wear daily. Now I won’t have to take a whole palette with me when I just want to wear this color. The bag more than paid for itself with just this one product, which retails for $16.
So…my initial thoughts on MyGlam. I’m a bit torn, but I would say its mostly positive. MyGlam has been getting a lot of complaints (and rightfully so, in my opinion) for being really disorganized as far as shipping out bags on time and shipping out the right products. Some people got two bags, some didn’t get any. Also the billing is kind of weird because you’re billed right away even if you don’t get a bag that month, and then not billed for the next…kind of a mess. However, I’m holding out hope that they’ll get more organized within the next couple months because I’m super pleased with the products and especially the size of the samples. Getting two full size products is awesome, and I like that the focus (so far at least) seems to be more on makeup products than other random stuff. I’ll definitely take a full size eye shadow over a lip gloss sample the size of my pinky nail, thankyouverymuch. I also like that the companies sampled aren’t super expensive or inaccessible. I’ll have reviews up on the products within the next week, so look out for that.
If you want to sign up for MyGlam, you actually have to wait until subscriptions are open because they only open them every so often. I’m not sure if the February bag is sold out yet, but I’ll be sure to post when they open up subscriptions again. 🙂

Glad you got your bag in one piece, can’t wait for February’s bag. Wen is really great the only thing that sucks about it is the price it can get expensive. The sheer cover I had actually used before when I was a teen I was surprised to see it in the Glam Bag but its an alright product from what I remember.
I have to agree there are a lot of ups and downs with the company but I’m looking on the bright side and hoping these issues get resolved quickly.

“overa lip gloss sample the size of my pinky nail” LOL! The Dec bag looked so good I’m bummed I missed out on it, this month seems pretty good too. That is weird how they don’t you the next though.

@Amanda yea I missed out on the December bag, too…I think I signed up like a day or 2 after it sold out 🙁

New follower from the Monday Beauty Blog Hop 🙂 I got the polish instead of the shadow and I really like it. I also love UD’s Sin shadow and use it almost daily as well! Great blog, I look forward to reading along. Stop by my blog if you’d like to check out my review on the polish. Have a great week!
