Wow its been a while since I’ve blogged. Not as long as AdoraBeauty, though (I think I’m taking an unplanned hiatus over there…have SO many reviews to do, too, but I keep putting it off!).
I’ve pretty much been preoccupied with Charles the past few weeks, but I think I’m starting to get into a routine now and start doing some other stuff like working out again (I did some kickboxing last night woo! It had been a LONG time) and painting my nails which I hadn’t done in like a month.
Since we’ve had Charles, he’s gone through some minor health issues but most seem to not be that serious. We took him to the vet last weekend for a checkup, and she noticed he has some gingivitis on his gums. I’m going to have to start brushing his teeth a little bit. I’m hpoing its not too serious since she didn’t recommend a professional cleaning yet or antibiotics. I also brought up the fact that his one eye always seems to have white discharge in it, and she said it was probably a form of feline herpes (which apparently most cats have). I’ve been adding 500mg of crushed up L-Lysine tablets to his food the past couple days, which is supposed to help with symptoms if he does in fact have that virus. His eye was a little bit gooey this morning, but I guess I just need to give it some time.
So he’s very quiet at night and keeps to himself, but last night at 3AM I woke up from a really deep sleep because he was screaming. It was the scariest thing ever. I bolted into the other room to see if he was okay and he seemed to be perfectly fine, but he kept staring at the window. I think something outside spooked him, but I’m not sure what it was…another cat maybe? A possum? (I’ve seen them before around). I hope whatever it was doesn’t come back, because I’ve never heard him scream like that before. I’m also not too fond of running around panicking at 3AM. I gave him some pets to calm him down a bit and went back to bed. He didn’t make any noise after that so I’m guessing whatever it was didn’t come back, but ugh…get off my property Philly wildlife and leave my kitty alone! lol
I’ll keep you updated on how he’s doing. I’ve been thinking more about getting a car lately. Especially last night when, for a split second before I checked on him, I was thinking I might have to take him to an emergency vet or something. Just don’t know what I’d do in those situations. Carrying 12 lbs of cat to the vet on Saturday in the heat was not a lot of fun, either (its about a 10 minute walk both ways). I’m lucky I have a vet within walking distance, but a car would still be much quicker, not to mention easier on my biceps! haha. Would also be handy for a few other things like shopping for larger items…but not sure if it would be worth the cost. I think if Shawn and I split the cost, it would be doable, but I’m not sure how often he’d use it. For those of you with wheels, about how much do you pay monthly for insurance and/or maintenance? Maybe something like zipcar would be more beneficial for me, though that doesn’t solve the problem of needing a car in emergencies.
Its a 3 day work week due to 4th of July on Thursday, so I only have one more day which is exciting. We’re planning on going to my house for a barbecue if the weather behaves. I’ve also been wanting to see Now You See Me, so hopefully we can fit that in somewhere too.

I hate when the cat or dog start crying/howling in the middle of the night. I end up wide awake and it takes forever to get back to sleep.

Oh my goodness, that sounds awful 🙁 Your poor little kitty. It’s so distressing when animals are suffering, because they can’t communicate to us what’s wrong 🙁 I hope he’ll be okay.
