April Updates

Tomorrow is Mr. Charles’s 3rd birthday!

"I can haz cake?"
“I can haz cake?”

Why yes, I took actual time out of my day (one might say, too much time) to create a custom graphic celebrating the day of birth of my cat. Stop judging me.

My birthday is also coming up on the 11th, but that’s far less exciting. In fact, being in what is now considered my “late” twenties makes me want to hurl, so I’m just going to forget that’s happening for right now.

So back to the cat…I thought I was making some progress with his ongoing (literally almost a year now) allergy/skin issue since his scratching had gone way down last week, but alas he’s back to the same old habits again this week. I just don’t know what’s causing it! I’ve switched foods multiple times (everything from novel proteins to prescription allergy food), switched litter multiple times, I’ve tried various antihistamines suggested by the vet, tried feliway diffusers, used flea treatment, vacuumed and dusted and vacuumed some more, tried rubbing anti-itch wipes all over him, tried a couple different homeopathic remedies (with another on the way), tried omega 3 fatty acid supplements, tried a humidifier, and probably some other things I’m forgetting. *throws hands in air* I just don’t know. Might have to just pony up the cash for an allergy test at this point. There’s also the prospect of getting another kitty (in case its a boredom thing), but then what if they hate each other? Bah!

The good news is…its finally starting to get a bit warmer and feel like Spring! Maybe the sunshine will help everything…and my cat’s itchiness will go away. And I’ll start working out again. And eating better. I do love winter, but I feel like this winter has been as long as the one from Game of Thrones (which, by the way, I’m super excited about the premiere of this Sunday!).

I also dropped probably more than I should have on a bunch of essential oils that should be arriving today. I got a set that includes Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary, Sweet Orange & Tea Tree. I’m planning on using them for homemade skincare, hair care, etc (and of course chronicling the journey on here). Exciting! Although I’m sure they’ll cause me to break out terribly or some other sort of negative reaction with my luck. But if any of you have certain skin/hair/cleaning recipes using essential oils that I could try, let me know in the comments!
