Sephora PLAY!: November 2018

November 21, 2018 by Melanie

I know…I gave up on monthly beauty boxes! But I got bored, okay? =p

I’ll probably only get a couple more of these and then unsubscribe again cause I honestly wasn’t thrilled with it, but we’ll see. Here’s what came in my November box…

philosophy purity made simple cleanser – I’ve tried this cleanser in the past and have liked it well enough. It removes makeup really well and has a similar texture to the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser (very creamy). I probably won’t ever buy the full size because the fragrance is a bit strong, but I’m happy to use up this sample.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumizing Paste – This stuff was terrible. The only redeeming quality was the scent, which is rose, but besides that I absolutely hated it. Its extremely awkward and difficult to apply, and it turned my hair to straw. Like I literally couldn’t comb through it and had to use some heavy duty hair masks to get it back to normal. I tried it twice and same both times, so I threw the rest out.

Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Moisturizing Cream-Gel – This was a nice moisturizer and I really like the gel-like texture of it (very refreshing and not sticky). Unfortunately the sample size was itty bitty and I only got 2 uses out of it.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – Would have really liked to try this powder if I could get it out of the damn container. Literally spent several minutes banging the container onto the lid try to getting anything out and only a few specks of powder. I’ll have to try cutting the holes a little bigger maybe, or try to get the plastic tray on top off.

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in Pink Tea – I thought I would like this color, but after putting it on its…not good. It makes me look like a corpse (and I imagine it would look awful on anyone with pale skin). The color in the tube is nice, but it dries to a weird gray/mauve shade. I wouldn’t have minded if it were more true purple and not like weird zombie purple.

Commodity Gold – This was a decent scent. Very strong! I could pretty much smell it all day. Its a very earthy scent (amber and musk) which I love.

I wanted to like subscription boxes so much, but I found myself with 1) not a lot of budget friendly CF options and 2) with an overhaul of product that I didn’t love. It seems like that’s kind of the same thing that others go through, too. I tend to do the same thing as you. Subscribe and get bored, haha!
